How We Verify Data

Every value on this site goes through the same pipeline before it is published.

Sources

The primary source is always official documentation: the manufacturer’s service manual, the owner’s manual, or the brand’s own support portal. We do not use forum posts, dealer hearsay or AI guesses as primary sources.

Cross-checking

A value is published only after it is confirmed by at least two independent sources — for example, the service manual and the owner’s manual for the same model year range, or two official editions of the same manual. Where the sources disagree, we publish the manufacturer’s current figure and note the discrepancy.

Confidence statuses

  • Verified — two independent sources agree.
  • Official — a single official source (typically the manufacturer’s manual), quoted exactly as printed.
  • Unverified — one non-official source. Marked as such, and a candidate for re-checking.

Staying current

When a manufacturer revises a manual, figures can change. We re-check model data periodically and always when a reader reports a discrepancy — see the corrections page. Every figure on a model page shows its source, so you never have to take our word for it.
